Training Seminars Scheduled for 2010
Dr. Cain has expressed an interest in coming to Albuquerque in the Summer or Fall of 2010. Are you interested?
Please contact us if you are!
Yes, this is tenative, as Dr. Cain is recovering from bypass surgery.
So, we're waiting to see how he feels, and when he may fit us into his schedule.
Of course, his passion is to continue treating horses, and has always been to race tracks for the big events, but this year he's thinking of slowing down just a bit.
We may be the beneficiary from his change in plans!

"Katt races again, thanks to BioScan!" by Winter Harris, WPRA Barrel Racer
"I thought I would have to put my horse down until I learned about Bioscan"
Ok, now that I have your attention, let me tell you what I have been through for the past five years
with my barrel horse "Katt." This horse is my dream horse. She was born and raised on my family's
feedlot; the minute I saw her, I knew she just had to be mine. She has big blaze white stockings and
blue eyes-- yes, blue eyes always touch my heart, but that's another story. I started this little filly on
the feedlot working cows; I could sort, run up the fence and turn back, brand and just do anything on
her within 30 days. Katt would meet me at the fence every day ready to go. If you know feedlot work, you
you know that it means hard work and long hours, anywhere between 10-12hrs a day, so you can
understand when I say that my mare has a lot of heart.
Move forward about 2 years: I was running barrels on her; we were winning a lot of competitions around home so I decided to buy my permit to W.P.R.A. One of my first rodeos of the season was at Pasco, Washington. It was in January, so we ran indoors. They didn't have enough dirt in the arena, and when I came around the second barrel, Katt slipped; both front legs did the splits, but she picked herself up and kept running to the third barrel and ran home. On that run, she was only two tenths of a second from winning money. When I got off her, she was picking up her front left leg and shaking. My heart sank at that very moment. Thus began a five year journey toward recovery.
She was placed under chiropractic care, and put out to pasture. I was told, "she will heal, just give
her time." As time went on, x-rays still could not pinpoint the problem. Various medications were prescribed, and I began a regime of herbs, all offering a small amount of relief, but not nearly sufficient to allow her freedom of movement. She quickly regressed to the point that she couldn't pick up her head - it was as though it was frozen. I started to do massage therapy on her; it-helped allow her to move her neck a bit more, but not nearly enough to ride. I was
told by several people,"put her down and go on." But I could not do it. I would get sick every time I thought of it. Most everyone has had the experience of hearing that little voice inside asking, "Will you will regret it? Don t do it yet." So, I did everything I could think of to help her, including more chiropractic care, more medications, etc., which provided just enough relief to keep her in the pasture.
It was at this point (October 2009) that Alan Vohs stepped into the picture, with his "Voodoo Machine" as many people called it. I call it the "dream maker," because it brought Katt back to me. When I told Alan about my mare, he told me he was confident he could help her. My first thought was, "How are lights going to fix my mare?" I never told him about her front legs or shoulders, or about how she was injured.
He came out to our barn with his Bioscan; it was readily apparent that it was reading all of
her sore spots; it was amazing. He then began the light treatment. After the first treatment, she
wasn't as tense in her neck, but I was still skeptical. However, after the second treatment she started to walk with a longer stride, whereas before she was walking like she had navicular. After the third treatment, she could flex her head both ways.
Alan suggested at that point I should begin chiropractic treatment again. It was the first time anyone could adjust her shoulders the way she needed, and it sounded like a shot gun going off when he adjusted her. That was the first time in 5 years my horse could walk without being lame.
The Bioscan allowed her muscles to heal so the chiropractic treatments could work as they are intended. After just a few more treatments, I was riding her and I was legging her up. Recently, I have been running barrels on her, placing and winning money again, all without her being in pain.
I owe it to Alan and his amazing Bioscan machine. Without his help, I very likely would have had to say good bye to my wonderful friend because I could not bear to see her in such pain. Thank you, Alan Vohs, and thank you Bioscan, for returning my beloved companion to me.
Note from Jim at BioScan: These stories not only warm my heart and keep me motivated! This was unsolicited story, and I must thank Alan Vohs for continuing to care for horses and share the good news of BioScan. I would love to hear your success stories, also! It is hard to express how much it means to have Winter take the time to write her story down and send it to me. She is also going to send pictures, so if you'd like to see those,

Blog and Forum Commuications
Both the Blog and the Forum on the BioScan website leave much to be desired. Spammers have made the Forum time consuming for me to manage. Kay has done a marvelous
job of managing the Blog, but the controls necessary to prevent "junk" has made it difficult for the average person to be able to post easily. What is the answer?
I am giving "facebook" a try.
I would appreciate your particpation with facebook, please click here to contact me.
This will take you to a page where you can contact me directly. I will respond to each request, and filter out the the web crawler bots.
For those of you already on facebook, all you have to do is type in my email address and you'll find my page. I am praying this site will be for serious questions
and answers about BioScan. The business page, "BioScan Therapy, for the horse and rider" will summarize and catalog the best, and may prove to be a great idea for those
Therapists who are trying to reach their potential. Today the question again came, "Do you have anyone in the Kern Texas Area doing BioScan? Are you active? Would you like
to reach folks in need of your services in your area? Please let me know what you think!

"Books and Tapes" in the left column "Categories" Index Box. You may order directly by clicking on this link.
This book is a compilation of points derived from the transpositional method of equine acupuncture. In this method, the loci are found by comparing the same points in people and finding the similar location in the equine anatomy.
The manual includes color chargs inspired by the work and efforts of Marvin Cain, Earl Sutherland, Dominique Giniaux, Meredith Snader, Tery Durkes, Are Thorenson, and others.

New Acupuncture Program
In March of 2008 we conducted a seminar featuring Marvin Cain, D.V.M. in Ocala, Florida. A quote of Dr. Cain's, "One never stops learning," led me to discuss the possibility of putting our Equine Scan Record Form on the computer. The thought was to enter the acupunture points found, and having the computer index the indications, making it easier for the novice to begin, and the advanced to continue learning. Everyone, including Diane and Martin of Whole Horse Solutions in the United Kingdom attending the second seminar at Grand Adventures Ranch discussed the idea. Everyone agreed it would be terrific. Do you agree?
Jeff Chimene is developing the program. If you would be interested in seeing the program now, and might take part in beta testing of this new program, please click on this link.
Repairs
Our goal for 2009 is a five working day turn-around on all equipment other than BioPack/BioFind systems, which will remain "same day." You can speed your repairs by including a note with your equipment stating the issues you are experiencing. We will post a form on-line to assist in expediting your repair. We will e-mail all who fill out the form on the arrival date advising of the expected return date.
We will continue to expedite BioPack/BioFind systems returned for new batteries. We will continue to calibrate, inspect and test the systems to insure proper working condition at no charge, other than the cost of the batteries as listed on the internet, plus shipping and insurance. Our goal for this service is SAME DAY, however if there are repair issues with the unit this might cause a delay. BioPack/BioFind Systems will always be TOP PRIORITY, for we recognize your investment and its benefit to you.
We pledge to limit your downtime on all repairs.
Please note the change of address for repairs: Omnilight, Inc. dba BioScan, 3412 Vista Alameda NE Ste D, Albuquerque NM 87113.
Calendar
The calendar may be the most exciting announcement for 2009. Many folks have asked, "Will you come to an event in my area?" My 2009 plan is to say, "Yes," as often as possible. So, how do you get your event on the list? It all begins with scheduling. For more information, please Click here to CONTACT ME by e-mail All of our phone numbers are the same, so we can talk about it if you prefer, but e-mail may be more efficient as another "resolution" is to check my e-mail 24/7 in 2009. (Apple I-phone - don't you love technology?)
Please let me know how we can serve you better this New Year! Report how we are doing, for customer satisfaction is our number one goal every year.
May you and yours enjoy a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year!

Are you getting the most out of your BioScan equipment?
I recently had a gentleman purchase a Tendon/Shin Saver for to assist in the rehabilitation of his race horse. He was concerned about expense, so he purchased only one. After a few days, he realized that he should have purchased a pair, and called to have the second unit shipped. When an injury takes place, the horse immediately starts to compensate by shifting weight to the other leg, or in the case of a Hock injury, the opposite front leg. So, treating with pairs is highly advisable.
I am often told by practitioners with "BioPack/BioFind sytems" that they save time treating horses by using the joint wraps. They concentrate the "ClusterHead treatments" on other areas. There are many practitioners who have multiple pairs of joint wraps, so they can move on to treat multiple horses while leaving treating others with the joint wraps. Remember, these wraps are designed to treat the acupuncture and acupressure points in and around the various joints.
Have questions?
I know many of you have experienced delay in getting answers to your questions. I apologize. Often times, there are just not enough of us to answer all the telephone calls. Monday mornings seem to be the worse, because the messages left over the weekend can mount up.
That is why we've designed the Blog and Forum. We have many practitioners who are paying attention to these areas, so you might find your question is answered more quickly by using either of these two methods rather than the telephone. I apolgize to those of you who would rather talk to a live person than use the "computer." My dad would roll over in his grave if he were to read this. He hated computers, but I realize they are a great time saver. Often the questions being asked are the same that have been asked before, so the Blog and Forum will be a great timesaver for me. It is my hope that it will be a great instructional tool.
Our goal is to have a comprehensive Question and Answer area on the website, eventually with a locator, so you can type in your "help question," and see if there is an answer already posted. The Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) began many years ago, but it only scratches the surface of all the questions being asked.
I am looking forward to having different opinions voiced on the website, also. As we multiply the number of responses, we can take advantage of a broad base of experience. So, please "Ask your Questions on-line." And, if you are a practitioner, and will take the time to answer questions, I will do my best to come up with a reward system for your efforts as we see results of informing the public about a best kept secret - BioScan!
I would also like to ask that anyone having information that you think would be valuable to others, please let me know. You can always contact us by clicking Contact Us located on the index bar near the top of each page on our website. This could be anything or any site that contributes to the overall health and welfare of our Animal Friends and Veterinary associates.

What is the difference between laser and LED?
LED is an acronym which stands for Light Emitting Diode. These diodes are a spin off of the solid state laser diode developed for CD players. They produce comparable power, wavelength and the phontonic light characteristics of the more costly lasters. Lasers exhibit a light that is very coherent, while LEDs are near coherent. Recent research articles have stated that near coherent light works as well as coherent light. The success of our BioScan products verifies these findings.
FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions We are always trying to improve our information base. If you have questions, or anwers to questions, please please spend a few minutes looking at the Blog or Forum sections on our website.
Please let us know what you think! We aim to please, so your help in identifying the target will be greatly appreciated!
Seminar Update:
Our next seminar is being planned to be held at Grand Adventures Ranch in Sonita Arizona, just south of Tucson. We are planning a Level One and Level Two training. Watch for future notices and please if interested CONTACT
US.
How long does it take to see results?
This is perhaps the most frequently asked quesiton, so I thought it deserved another "answer." Of course anyone should recognize that results will vary from horse to horse as the severity of conditions do. Often a dramatic change can be seen in a matter of minutes, while others may take more time. There are many theories on why. The more chronic a problem, the longer it seems to take. Muscle problems or slight vertabral misalignments generally show more rapid results.
How often should you treat? Again, it depends upon the conditions. If the condition is severe, twice a day treatments may be best, everyday for the first week, then reduce the number of treatments as results are evident.
Treatments have shown to help maintain peak performance. Don't wait for an injury, take advantage of using this therapy during conditionaing and during cool down periods after performance!

Volume 1 Edition 2 Jan. 29, 2008
Success at the track . . .
My husband trains and races standardbreds. We claimed a horse a few years back named Garfield. Garfield's front leg conformation made him a real knee knocker who needed heavy knee and arm boots for protection and go straights to try to keep his legs further apart.
As soon as we got him home, I noticed the lack of flexion in the knee that he whacked. Immediately after treating him with the lights (BioPack) there was a noticeable increase in the flexion. We treated him regularly before and after each race. (continued at the bottom of the next column)

Valuable materials and learning tools will be handed out to all participants. This is one seminar you will not want to miss! More details will follow in future newsletters and e-mail correspondence. Special training information will be sent in advance to all as they register, so preparation can enrich your learning experience.
Success at the track (con't from column 1) Garfield was a 5 yr old, but his second race for us was a win and a new life time mark. Two wins later, another life time mark. We continued to race him in classes and he continued to bring the pay cheques in; but, no surprise he was claimed from us in less than three months. There was no way to stop Garfield from hitting himself. Proper shoeing and protection was always needed, but the lights alone kept the pain and swelling out.
Lorna Bell, Equine Sport therapist for all your athlete's needs.
Innovations
Check out our new designs, soon to be posted on our product pages.
Yes, some people will always question change, but we are confident you will love these new features.
One important new feature is redundancy, which will improve product reliability. The toggle on/off switch has been replaced with a flat push-buttons similar to the ones on a microwave. The units are now programmed to automatically shut-off after 30 minutes, which will conserve batteries. The indicator light will show when your batteries need replacing, which should eliminate battery leakage and corrosion due to low voltage conditions. If you have questions, please CONTACT US!.
New Calendar
As we have many Independent Sales Representatives attending shows and events through out the country, we came up with a way for our customers to see "where we will be." If you would like your event added to our calendar, pleaseCONTACT US!

This email made my day . . . by Brenda
Good morning. Thank you so much for the phone call telling me my equipment had been repaired and offering me an opportunity to update some of the software. Buying this unit has been one of the greatest blessings that our people family and horse families have ever experienced. I have vets sending horses for treatment to me and it is always successful. I had tendonitis in my right elbow so bad that even the steroid shots stopped working. After 4 treatments with the BioScan, my elbow has never given me any problem whatsoever. I work in front of a computer all day long and from the time I get home until bedtime, I am working with our personal horses and boarding facility horses. It is a constant loading and unloading feed, hay and all the fence work that goes with the pleasure. When I hurt my back or anything else, I can treat the area for a few days and the pain is gone. I've had my unit over 10 years and appreciate every moment that I have used it. My barrel horse had a sore suspensor tendon and was lame. Within a week, she's fine and ready to go again. All I have is praise for this unit and the people that I have been in contact with. The information that I get from the company and the service is fantastic. The people are so friendly and helpful. They never make me feel that they are superior in knowledge, just have a desire to explain to me in a fashion that a lay person can understand. Thanks again BioScan!
